Success!

I know it may not seem like a big deal to you all but this is the first picture that I have uploaded from my phone. I am feeling pretty darn cool!

Just an update on the progress we are making as we prepare to become a one-income family again. Just when you think you can't possibly carve anymore off the budget you have that light bulb moment. Well, actually it was a moment provided by Netflix. I heard on the news that they were going to raise their rates again. Okay, so maybe it was only going to be a $2 raise, but it was the catalyst we needed to reevaluate our need for Netflix. And we realized that we just didn't use it a lot. A documentary here, a movie there. But we realized that we were watching it just a couple times a week. And when we came to see that we were watching Amazon more, that did it for us. And so today we have cut the cord. Or at least it will be officially cut on February 20th because we're paid up to then. And we're hearing rumors that the newspaper will be raising its subscription rates so if it does we will cut that off as well. It just goes to show that something can always be eliminated or replaced or fixed.

I am the first to admit that I love to shop online. It's fun and it's easy but it's also expensive. That old adage about mulling over a purchase is true. If you wait 24 hours before buying something, often times you will see that it may not be what you want after all.

So our preparation continues and I continue to watch great YouTube videos on how to make things from scratch and create something out of nothing. My next goal is to make homemade hamburger and hot dog buns. Then maybe some pasta. The list is endless!

A blast From the Past

Oh my goodness, this was so long ago! I love it though! As a grandma I view time in grand-babies and this was 14 grand-babies ago! I'm including little Gerret in there!

Hoping this finds everyone happy and healthy. I want to bring you a great recipe I found on a wonderful vlog I follow called Freedom Homestead on YouTube. It's a homemade rice-a-roni recipe that got 2 thumbs up from your dad!

Homemade Rice-A-Roni

Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a large fry pan. Break up 1/3 cup thin spaghetti and put in butter. Toast it until it just starts to brown. Then add 1 cup rice and stir it in. Add 2 cups water, 2 teaspoons chicken bouillon and stir. Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder. cover and simmer 15 minutes or until rice is tender. Now you can add leftover chicken, veggies or whatever you find in your fridge! It's definitely a keeper recipe!
